Six Faces, One Sky
surfaceparm sky detection, six-face skybox loading from PK3 archives, and a RawCubeTexture face order nobody had written down.
Skies Are Surfaces Too
surfaceparm sky detected and excluded from BSP geometry
skyparms fully parsed for skybox texture pathsSix-face skybox textures load from PK3s (TGA, JPG, PNG), with coordinates converted from Q3's Z-up right-handed space into Babylon's Y-up left-handed one.
Commands: bsp sky, bsp sky info, bsp sky apply, bsp sky toggle, bsp sky remove.
Tested on Warsow's wdm11 with textures/sky/stormydays.
Each face needed its own transform, which is the sort of detail that turns into a one-line bug report later: side faces use flipH, the ceiling uses rotate90CCW_flipH, the floor uses rotate90CW_flipH.
The Discovery
Babylon.js RawCubeTexture uses face order
[nx, px, py, ny, nz, pz] (not commonly documented order)Known Limitations
- Skybox texture PK3s such as
tex_env.pk3must be manually loaded before
applying the skybox.
- Cloud layer animation (
tcMod scroll) not yet implemented.
That second one is the only entry on this list that reads like a to-do written by somebody who already knew how to do it — which, nineteen days later, they did.
