The First Time the Engine Documented Itself
TypeDoc integration, a custom dark theme built from the logo palette, and a docs version that reads version.txt instead of being remembered by hand.
A Documentation Generator For A Three-Month-Old Engine
- TypeDoc integration for the engine API.
- A custom dark theme using the logo colour palette, with Nunito for headers.
- Version sync: the docs version reads from
version.txt. typedoc.jsonconfigured engine-only, excluding game code.docs/api-theme.css,scripts/build-docs.js,npm run docs:api.
The Version Sync Is the Whole Point
Not the theme. The version sync.
A generated API reference whose version number is written by hand is wrong within one release. This one reads version.txt, so the thing the engine calls itself and the thing the docs call it cannot drift — which is the same instinct as making engine.json mandatory with no silent fallbacks three weeks later, and the same instinct behind EngineVersion being a singleton in the first place.
Why It Landed Here
Because v0.2.1 had just renamed the engine and removed Quake brand references from the documentation, and renaming something you have not written any documentation for is just a string change. This is the release where the engine started being a project with an API surface, in the two weeks after it acquired a name.
For scale: this release adds no features at all. It is a documentation release for an engine that had been public for roughly six weeks.
