Rain That Followed You Indoors
A weather system with ambient sound, post-processing, graphics settings — and the fix for precipitation that would not stop indoors.
Weather, And Immediately Weather Bug Reports
- A comprehensive weather system — rain, snow, thunder, fog — with ambient sounds.
- Particle-based rain with camera tracking and auto-scaling.
- An indoor map flag that disables rain and snow.
- Graphics settings in the Settings menu: bloom, vignette, SSAO.
- A
PostProcessingManagercovering all three, plus colour grading.
Then the fixes, which are the actual content of this post:
- Camera drift when transitioning between maps.
- Rain and snow did not stop when entering indoor maps.
The Indoor Flag Is the Whole Lesson
Weather that follows a camera into a room with a roof is not a small bug. It is the kind of bug that makes a demo reel look cheap in about four seconds, and it is also the kind of bug that only appears in the one map you did not test.
The indoor flag is a one-bit-per-map decision, and it is the whole difference between a feature and a demo. It is also — and this is the part that ages well — the exact same shape as the surfaceparm sky work that showed up eight months later in v0.8.2, where surfaces have to be classified before they can be treated specially.
